Comments:I am the grandson of Cpl. Veno Conrad, Bennett, Iowa, 337th machine gun battalion, 1917. France. The year of his death, 1975, he gave me the cigarette lighter he carried with him in France. Its the only thing I have to remember him by, other than his many acts of kindness which I will never forget. If anybody has any pictures of him I'd sure be thankful for any and all I could download or copy. Veno was about 6'6" tall and stood well above most others. He was known to wear a white straw hat on occasion and the only picture I saw of him in France he had it on and stood about a foot taller than the other gentlemant he was with.

This is the only place I have ever found info on him on the internet. He died one month before I was born so I never knew him. This site helps me learn some of what he went through in his life. Thanks so much. By the way, my grandfather has a picture of Rinharts battalion at home on the wall in Algona, Iowa.

Comments: My interest in the 88th Div is for WWII, because I'm doing a book on my ftaher's unit which was attached to them for a while. Your web site turned up on a search, and, WOW! what a site. Doing reserach myself, I can appreciate the work that went into getting the information, as well as the extremely hich quality presentation. It give me the idea that (after I retire) I'd like to do a similar site for the unit I'm writing about. thank you so much for the effort you put into this, it is impressi

Comments: I enjoyed reading a lot of the history and pictures. It was very, very interesting, for both the educator and scholar of our younger generation. My web sites are on Graves Registration, recovery of remains since the colonial days of yesteryear. I have spent over 40 years in this field, not much talked about, but someone had to see the LIGHT of understanding. It is great to have people like you out here on the web with such remarkable information. This did not happen back in my day. The telephone

Comments: I was thrilled to see and read your web site on the 88th Division. My uncle, John Iverson, was a member of the Division and I hope you can soon finish the roster list. He was a member of Co.L, 352nd Inf. and left the US on the 16th of August according to his discharge record. I have been researching my father's participaton in WWII as he was also stationed in this part of France. And now I can also add my uncle's information. Thanks.

Comments: Find your site very interesting. I do wonder, though: was the 88th Division the only division at Camp Dodge and can you tell me, if the Camp Dodge of today may have a historical office or the like. I am asking because I have tried to trace a cousin of my grandfathers for quite some time. His name was Jens Christian Christensen. US relatives do not seem able to supply more information. The only thing I have is, that we came to the USA in 1914 as a 17 year old orphan and at the time of his natura

Comments: I like your pages. It's the only site on the 88th Div. My G-father was in WWI and all I know is that he was in Cas. Det 1016 Dem Grove last Assigned to Camp Hospital #6. Served in AEF. Left US Sept 16, 1918 and returned July 7, 1919. This info. is from his Discharge record. He was processed thru Camp Dodge, Iowa so I assume that he was part of the 88th Div, but I haven't been able to locate the unit listed in discharge record. Do you have any idea? Thanks.
